New to beads?

beads is a dependency-aware issue tracker that lives in your repo via the bd CLI. This app gives every board a face — and a brain.

Explore the beads project

Built to stay out of your way.

One root, every project

Point it at your dev folder. It finds every .beads project underneath automatically — no per-repo setup.

Board & list, instantly

Ready, In Progress, Blocked, Done. Drag to move, epics with sub-boards, rendered from cache the moment you open it.

Headline feature

An AI scoping copilot

A built-in Claude agent reads your board and your code to help you prioritize, break down epics, and write issues — running on your existing Claude subscription, at no extra cost.

Native and fast

A real macOS app, not a browser tab. Updates install themselves in the background.

Preview of the upcoming release. Items marked Beta aren't published to everyone yet.

Version 0.6.0

BetaJune 10, 2026

Added

  • The agent composer can now reference project files with @, drag&drop a file from anywhere onto it to insert its path (granting the agent read access to that file for the turn), and paste an image as a real attachment shown as a thumbnail above the composer.
  • When Claude proposes updating an issue, the approval card can now be expanded to show a before→after diff of exactly what changes — each changed field with its old and new value (short fields as "old → new", long text fields line by line), with unchanged fields hidden — so you can see what the update does before approving it.

Fixed

  • The expanded approval card now shows the issue type and acceptance criteria for proposed create and update operations — fields that were previously missing from the full view.
  • A ticket attached as a child of a non-epic parent (a feature, task or bug) no longer disappears from the board — it now shows as a normal card in its status column. Children of epics stay on the epic's board/detail page as before.
  • An epic is no longer shown as "blocked" when only a single deferred child has an external blocker — as long as it still has a workable child, the epic stays out of the Blocked column and the blocker remains visible on the affected child. An epic is marked blocked only when all of its non-closed children are blocked.

Version 0.5.0

BetaJune 9, 2026

Added

  • See what your agent sessions cost: the dashboard now keeps a durable, per-issue, per-epic and per-project ledger of Claude usage. A compact `$6.31 (8.5M tokens)` line shows on the project header and each issue's detail page; click it for a breakdown dialog (cost · tokens in / of which cache / out per issue, with an issue preview on hover). On first launch the costs and tokens of your existing sessions are backfilled automatically.
  • Set and remove dependencies between cards right from the dashboard — on the issue detail page, from a card's context menu (kebab or right-click), or by dragging one card onto another while holding ⌘/Ctrl. Blocked cards move into the Blocked column instantly and the change is saved in the background.

Version 0.4.1

BetaJune 9, 2026

Fixed

  • The in-app update notice now shows the release notes in your selected language (English or German) instead of always in English.

Version 0.4.0

BetaJune 9, 2026

Added

  • The archive now understands epics: an archived epic groups its archived child issues together, and you can open a focused view of just that epic's archive — so finished epics stay tidy and are easy to revisit.
  • Release notes are now available in both English and German, and the website has a changelog page so you can see at a glance what changed in each version.
  • A "What's new?" view in the app: open it any time from the header menu to read the release notes for the current and recent versions — not only when an update appears.

Fixed

  • When the AI co-pilot finishes a step while you're looking at the board, the board now updates immediately instead of waiting for you to refresh.

Version 0.3.1

June 7, 2026

Fixed

  • The built-in AI co-pilot now finds the Claude command-line tool even when it's installed in its newer default location, so chat works out of the box for more setups.

Version 0.3.0

June 7, 2026

Added

  • Update channels: choose how early you receive new versions — Stable for the safest builds, or Beta and Alpha to try things sooner. Switch any time from the header menu.
  • A universal build that runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, so the app feels fast on whichever Mac you use.

Version 0.2.0

June 6, 2026

Added

  • A board for your beads issues: drag cards across Ready, In Progress, Blocked and Done, filter them, and put them in the order that suits you.
  • A detail page for every issue, so you can read and edit all of a ticket's information in one place.
  • A dedicated board for epics: move an epic into 'In Progress' and its own board opens up, showing its child issues so you can discuss and plan them separately.
  • Collapse the columns that matter less right now, so you can keep your focus on what's important.
  • See at a glance which cards are blocked — and why — so nothing stalls unnoticed.
  • An archive for finished cards: tuck completed work away to keep the board clear, and bring it back any time.
  • The Done column shows when each card was closed and why, so the context of finished work isn't lost.
  • A command palette (⌘K) and search across all your projects that combines keyword and meaning-based ranking, so you find the right issue even when you don't remember its exact title.
  • A built-in AI scoping co-pilot: chat with Claude about a ticket or a whole board to refine, plan and tidy it. Every change it proposes is shown for your approval first, and each conversation is kept so you can pick it up later.
  • Open a chat right from an issue's detail page to discuss and revise that specific ticket.
  • The app keeps itself up to date: it checks for new versions and installs them in the background, with a discreet hint in the header when an update is ready.
  • A polished, branded macOS installer, plus a website at bd.nxsflow.com to download the app and see what it does.

Bring every board into focus.

Free. Native.
